Eric DunbarMy name is Eric Dunbar. I am a twelve-year ex-crack-cocaine addict, so I know what it is like to be addicted. I blog about drug addiction, family issues, religion and spirituality.

My approach to drug addiction recovery is based on the finished work of Jesus Christ. This principle is based on a Bible verse taken from John 8:36 which reads, “Whoever the Son sets free is free indeed.” The Greek word used for indeed is ontos [pronounced on’-toce]. It is an adverb that is translated clean.

What I Believe

I believe the surest and easiest way to be totally free of an addiction is to seek the assistance of the Physician of physicians, Jesus Christ, the Word of God (John 1:1-4). God says, “People are destroyed for lack of knowledge.” (Hosea 4:6). The knowledge mentioned here is the correct knowledge of God. When you’re dealing with a sickness like drug addiction, you need to know who God really is, not who you think He is.

Why I Do What I Do

Neither the addicted nor the co-dependents of the addicted deserves to suffer the incredible pain of drug addiction. I suffered, my family and friends suffered because of my poor choices. When God loosed me from the chains of addiction, I promised to do everything within my power to see to it that no drug addict would be left behind.

I am proof that the power of God can heal this terrible disease. Today I am totally free of my addiction to crack-cocaine. The good news is that I don’t have to do anything to keep that freedom. All I had to do was say, “Thank you Lord!” My goal is to conquer drug addiction, one drug, one person and one community at a time.
