“Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” John 14:27
Jesus was never afraid nor was He ever troubled. Why? Because He had the perfect peace of God in His heart. Jesus said He would give us the peace of God, provided we guard our hearts. In case you haven’t noticed, there is a definite difference in the peace of the world (peace that is governed by the rules of Satan’s government) and the peace of our Father God. The peace that the world offers says, “I can have peace provided all of my needs are met, my life is stable, and all is well for me.” But the peace of God says, “I have peace when everything around me is in chaos.”
How can you have the peace of God?
God has promised to give us His peace if we guard our hearts. Jesus said, “Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” Learn to guard your heart from the foolishness of the world, from things like gossip, strife, envy, worry, and hate, for these things makes the heart heavy.
You might be saying, “That’s easy for you to say; you don’t know how messed up my life is!” Now I will admit that this is one of those things that is more easier said than done, but it is not as difficult as you may think.
Imagine having to carry something as light as a grain of sand in sack. That single grain of sand would go undetected because it has hardly any weight at all. In fact, you would more than likely be unaware of its presence. Now imagine having to carry a trillion grains of sand. It would be nearly impossible to carry. That is what is happening to your heart. If your heart was that sack, a single grain of gossip, strife, envy, worry, or hate could go undetected, but a million grains of sand would make your heart so heavy that it would be nearly impossible for you to function under the stress. So friends, don’t let your heart be troubled, and fear nothing. Receive the peace that Jesus has given you; after all, He died to give it to you!
