Where Did You Lay Your Dreams To Rest?

by Eric Dunbar

Don’t loose sight of your dreams but rather seek the one who can give resurrection life to them.

Where have you laid your dreams?Everyone has dreams of having a better quality of life. But when your dreams don’t materialize don’t become discouraged, just tell Jesus where you laid them to rest. He is the way, the truth and the light, and He can give resurrection life even to your dreams.

Most people know the story of how Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead. But there is more to this story than meets the eye. The story begins with Lazarus falling ill at his home in Bethany. At the time, Jesus was not in the region, so Martha and Mary, Lazarus’ two sisters, sent for Jesus to come and heal their brother. But when Jesus got the message, He purposely delayed going to Bethany for two more days.

When Jesus finally arrived Bethany, Lazarus had already been dead and buried in his tomb for four days. When Martha saw Jesus, she blamed Him for the death of her brother Lazarus for she said to Him, “Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died..”

But Jesus went to the tomb of his friend Lazarus and told those who were grieving to take away the stone. When they moved the stone from the entrance of the tomb, Jesus looked up toward heaven and when He had prayed He shouted, “Lazarus, come forth!” And Lazarus came out of the tomb wrapped in his grave clothes. Then Jesus said. “Loose him, and let him go.” (John 11:1-44).

Everyone has had dreams and expectations that didn’t materialize according to plans, but for some, such disappointment brings with it discouragement which causes them lose sight of their dreams. If this is you, I urge you to think about where you laid your dreams to rest, because at some point in your life you gave up on a dream that was not dead but merely sleeping.

Take note that Jesus said to Martha, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, shall live.” Then He asked her, “Do you believe this?” Jesus gives life to everything, including your dreams. Nothing can live without Him. If you believe that He is life, you shall live in every area of your life.

So be encouraged to find the place where you laid your dreams to rest and then show Jesus where you laid them. Believe the word of the Lord, for your dreams are not dead, they are just sleeping. Allow Jesus to speak resurrection life into your dreams and you will see them come to pass.
