Will you be ready for the return of Christ? One day the sky will split open with a bright flash of light, and in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, the Lord Jesus will appear. And then, those of us who have patiently waited for His return will be caught up to meet Him in the air. Are you ready for that day?
No one knows when that day will come, not even the angels of heaven (Matthew 24:36). However, our Father does not leave His children clueless. And while He might not give us the exact day of the week, date of the month, and the year, He gives us many clues and lots of time to get ready for that inevitable day. God tells us what the world will be like as that day approaches.
“For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.”
One of the ways we will know the return of Jesus is near is when we see people living like the people before the flood. Before the flood people lived as if there was no God, right up to the time that Noah entered the ark and the flood came and took them away. My friends, Jesus will come like a thief in the night and no one will know He has come until He is gone.
“Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour your Lord is coming. But know this, that if the master of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched and not allowed his house to be broken into. Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.”
When Jesus returns it is important that He find believers doing what He commanded. When Jesus ascended into heaven He commanded His disciples to “Go into all the world and preach the gospel…” (Mark 16:15). What did Jesus mean when He said “Go into all the world?” I believe He meant that we should go back to the world from which we were delivered and tell others about the gospel (the good news of the grace of Jesus Christ). For example, Jesus delivered me from drug addiction. Therefore He expects me to tell drug addicts of His grace, that they too, might experience freedom from their addiction. So whatever you have been delivered from, find someone who is still enslaved to that thing and tell them about Jesus.
